Position Overview

Contingent upon contract award, Avint requires a Cybersecurity Assessments Team Lead to manage a team in support of conducting Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessments, and Risk Management and compliance services to systems supporting the Department of Homeland Security.


The Cybersecurity Assessment Team Leader provides technical knowledge and guidance of all areas related to Penetration Testing. As Team Lead they will analyze, plan, and report on all issues to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. Prepares and delivers presentations as required.

The Cybersecurity Assessments Team Lead will be responsible for:

  • Conducting formal network, application, wireless, social engineering, physical, and wireless penetration testing on information systems.
  • Conducting network mapping to identify live hosts and active ports, protocols and services (PPS) and analyze the results of NMAP data to identify risks.
  • Creating rules of engagements and developing post assessment technical reports.
  • Identifying cybersecurity deficiencies in information systems by performing technical assessments of assigned systems and applications to determine the severity of weaknesses; Supports the Security Authorization (SA) and Continuous Monitoring (CM), Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
  • Developing assessment process improvements and recommendations.


  • Active Top-Secret Clearance
  • Current DHS Suitability or ability to obtain one
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a technical discipline OR equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of progressive demonstrated experience in Information Assurance/Information Security, with a good working knowledge of both DoD and Federal Government Information Assurance / Security policies and procedures
  • Experience with information security related projects and be knowledgeable with the NIST Risk Management framework, FISMA, and DHS 4300A policies
  • Familiarity with vulnerability tools such as Nessus, WebInspect, IACS, CSAM, and AppDetective
