Avint’s Cybersecurity Experts Shared Insights at DISA/JSP Forum on Best Practices in RMF

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29, 2021 — Fast-growing federal cybersecurity and management consulting firm Avint presented yesterday at the DISA/Joint Service Provider Cybersecurity Forum held in Alexandria, Virginia. Two of its top subject matter experts shared insights on best practices in developing and deploying an effective risk management framework. Avint’s Executive Director of Cybersecurity Programs, Drew Nations, and Principal/Program Manager, William Ard, presented to military and industry attendees on Avint’s Repeatable Methodology for RMF Packages, Leveraging Novel Tools and Models.

The program offered a deep dive into Avint’s approach to the repeatability of RMF prescribed by standards set by the National Institute of Science and Technology. RMF is a proven process that integrates security, privacy and cyber supply chain risk management activities into the system development life cycle.

“It was an honor having the opportunity to speak at the DISA/JSP Cybersecurity Forum this week,” said Nations. “Managing organizational risk across the enterprise is critical for all federal IT managers to achieve effective information security programs. Our approach is focused on achieving a repeatable methodology for RMF packages, and we believe the process can be applied to new and legacy systems within any size or type of organization and generate incredibly effective results.”

Attendees of the event examined the agencies’ cybersecurity readiness, learned better security practices, completed trainings and examined technologies connecting and protecting warfighters in cyberspace. The forum highlighted the importance of individuals and organizations owning their role in protecting their part of cyberspace, stressing personal accountability and the value of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity.
