Position Overview

Cloud Engineer to support the design of secure virtualized networks for foreign military mission partners.

Responsibilities

The Cloud Engineer will help design integrated software and hardware solutions in virtualized enterprise and consumer systems. You will be responsible for systems planning, performance management, capacity planning, testing and validation, benchmarking, and information engineering.

The Engineer will:

  • Serve as cloud architect principal by providing technical guidance to other team members for the design, implementation and support of new cloud platform architecture and automation technologies, as well as updates and maintenance of existing cloud and automation systems
  • Design virtual solutions for inclusion in a System Design Document
  • Design cloud infrastructure solution offerings based on public cloud, private cloud, hybrid client environments and multi-cloud environments
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for virtual systems
  • Create as-built and other systems drawings (flowcharts, diagrams)
  • Analyze user requirements to automate or improve existing systems
  • Identify system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle
  • Work with vendors to ensure operational capabilities

Requirements

  • Experience with the following
    • Design, implementation, and support of virtual network infrastructures including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Server Virtualization Infrastructure
    • Experience developing System Design documentation
    • Possess deep technical knowledge and extensive experience with complex, IT environments including applications, middleware, storage, networks, information security, and operations as well as have a solid understand of cloud services, cloud native architectures and application delivery models
    • In depth knowledge and understanding of container and microservices technologies and related architectures
    • Docker and Kubernetes
    • Possess deep technical knowledge and extensive experience with complex, IT environments including applications, middleware, storage, networks, information security, and operations as well as have a solid understand of cloud services, cloud native architectures and application delivery models
    • In depth knowledge and understanding of container and microservices technologies and related architectures
    • Experience with architecting, implementing and maintaining highly available mission critical environments for 24×7 availability
    • Relevant experience with configuration and implementation of IaaS, Infrastructure as code, AWS, Azure, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, certifications and work experience
  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering including virtual network analysis, design, and installation
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud are a plus
  • Strong problem solving, analytic, and communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently under pressure and time constraints, in a small team environment
  • Strong Writing Skills
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance
